POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The bookkeeper/secretarymust have an ability to file, maintain accurate records and be a good typist. It is necessary this person be able to effectively communicate and work with administrators, teachers, parents and student in person and by telephone.The major responsibilities of the bookkeeping position deal with the business operation of the school, including placing orders, maintaining accurate internal general activities accounts, collecting account funds, making bank deposits, issuing checks, transferring funds between accounts, and other duties as assigned. The bookkeeper issues a formal monthly and yearly financial report of such accounts.

The major responsibilities of the Webster secretarial position include entering IEP data into MiStar for MoCI and ASD students, processing requests for supplies, maintaining student files, supporting office and staff needs, and other duties as assigned.

For both of these positions and because of the nature of the work, a spirit of cooperation with all others in the office is essential along with the ability to communicate effectively with others in person, by telephone, through e-mail, and other written communications.

DISTRICT OVERVIEW:

Livonia Public Schools employs approximately 1,900 staff members, serving approximately 13,300 students pre-K – post secondary. There are 15 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 3 high schools, 1 career technical center, 1 early childhood center, and 1 vocational and transition center in the school district. The annual budget for Livonia Public Schools is $175 million, with a state funding of $9,608 per pupil.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

The following is a list of minimum qualifications for this position, any one of which may be waived by the Administration in exercising its prerogative to determine qualifications.

  • Good organizational skills with the ability to multi-task efficiently,be responsible and confidentialare essential in this position
  • Strong communication skills. It is necessary to be able to interact diplomatically in person, electronically (email), and by telephone with administrators, teachers, parents, and students throughout the district.
  • A spirit of cooperation with others in the office and school
  • Possess effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Computer skills usingMicrosoft Office Suiteand Google
  • Proficient use of Mi-STAR preferred
  • Ability to keep accurate records and have the ability to meet deadlines
  • Detail oriented and accurate with date entry
  • Self-directed


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Specific details involved in the position will be discussed with the administra­tor during the interview and at the time of hiring for the position.

Salary and benefits will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Agreement between the Livonia Public Schools School District and the Livonia Secretarial Association, Michigan Education Association.APPLICATIONS:
