The original run of Hyperspace Arcade got rolling on word of mouth. People who knew people who had games in need of some work, and this got the ball rolling until the word got out through other promotional methods. So I ask the same here again with this reboot. Everyone knows someone who knows someone. We're getting inquiries and appointments are slowly coming onto the books, but I really want to accelerate the process and I can only post in the same places so many times. If in the D/FW area and you know someone or see something, send them my way... or tip me off. I'm eager to get going full speed. www.HyperspaceArcade.com

I feel the media is an unwitting accomplice in the struggles of the current struggles of traditional movie theaters. Mid-weekend reports of "the lowest Memorial Day weekend in forever" and all that only discourage potential viewers from going. I touched on that during my guest appearance on this week's Reel Spoilers. https://lnkd.in/g-7qjhiv

This business model shift is a challenging navigation for sure. But one that's moving forward. Some of you have asked how you can help, and really the best way to help is to get the word out. It's not as simple as it was for me in the mid-2000s... a nice website and a Craigslist ad would do it. Google hasn't indexed the site yet, and Meta is a bear with these things, too. I've spent some time this afternoon just "hitting the streets" in a virtual sense just as I first did decades ago. Let's see if that works. The thing back then that got Hyperspace going WAS word of mouth. Learning through a friend that a local night spot had a bunch of broken games in a shed got us started. Being tipped to places and people who may have use of our services helped get the ball rolling then. And I think it will now. And to be frank, I'm not talking about the obvious ones. All those retro arcades and barcades tend to have their own crew already, though I'm more than happy to help them out if they could use it. But I'm more looking for those wayward souls, so to speak. That grandmother who has a lonely Ms. Pac-Man sitting in the garage for the past decade. That hole in the wall burger joint that has had the same old machines on location for decades and they are in need of some love. That business that moved out some of these old beasts when they took it over and wants them now out of their back room. Please send them my way... or send me a tip and I'll do the reaching out. The rest will come through the natural course of events. I just need to get the wheels on the road.https://lnkd.in/ghrhusj5

Today isn't going to be an easy day for me. I've talked about scaling down We Got One and plans today are to tear down the commercial shelving in an inventory storage space. There's a bit of finality to that, plus it's going to take time to do when I have so many other things TO do. It's a bit heavy all at once. But I saw a friend this morning post a simple message: They wish that nobody out there had to be sad.And I like that. Now for the record, I'm not sad today... but there is a bit of mixed emotion going on. But this is more about all of you, which is what my friend's post made me think of. I have... quite a few people who fly through my social media feeds. Thousands of you right here on Facebook alone. Some of you I don't know personally very well... some of you I do, or I have been closer to you in the past. And I see those days where you're sad. Or stressed. Or angry. And I think it's great that you feel comfortable venting about it, because I personally feel that's a great way to help yourself. But I really wish I could DO something to help ya, too. I really do. But I don't know what to do say directly, ya know? But then it hit me... this podcast I'm planning may be able to do that. Or at least I hope so. I'll put this part out there right here and now... my podcast will NOT be a show that stirs the pot for clicks... nor one that exists just to criticize or attack others. And it sure as hell won't be one of those who wastes time responding to or talking about other podcasts because what a waste of time, man.Without revealing too much about the upcoming structure... this podcast will talk to people that many of you know or should know about. And it's to delve into what makes them tick, too. What are their happy places? Their inspirations? What was that spark that led that published author to take that leap? What was the catalyst that helped that game designer create that all time classic game? What inspires that pro athlete to get up and train every day? To know me is to know that I talk about this sort of thing a lot in relation to myself. Heck, the promo pic shared here shows a lot of examples of that. So now I plan to explore this in others. And I hope by doing so, it can help other people do the same... or at least lighten up the hard days that some listeners may be going through... even if just for the running time of the show. And I look forward to this opportunity.
