24 Richard A. Patrick Richard 63, died Nov. 21, 1998 at Traditions of Bath Nursing Home after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Barberton in 1935, he was the youngest son of Travis and Florence Patrick. Mr.

Patrick Attended various schools in Barberton and Akron, graduating from East High School. He enlisted in the Army in 1957 where he received an honorable discharge. He attended the University Of Akron and various other schools before embarking on his career as a contract design engineer. After working and traveling to many jobs he ended his career in 1991 at Air Craft Systems where he suffered a injury that forced him Braking, into retirement. He was and avid sportsman and hobbyist and will be remembered for his uncanny knowledge of machinery, electronics and engineering design.

He was a very compassionate caring man and will be greatly missed by friends and all those he touched' with his kindness. He was preceded in death by mother, father and sister, Dorothy M. Farr. Survived by his dear friend and companion of 13 years Carol A. Kimball; sister, Ruth (Al) Mirtich; brother, Raymond; nieces, Susan K.

Herron and Linda G. Pownell; nephews, Craig Farr and Chris (Dedra) Farr. He maintained a second career for 30 years as an Akron Police Reserve Officer, was a member of the FOPA and the FOP He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Portage Lakes Lodge and Scottish Rite Valley of Akron. He belonged to the Akron Crime Clinic and was a life member of the National Rifle Association and the Ohio Gun Collectors Association. He was also a member of the Green Ba Baptist Church.

Born in Massillon, he was a graduate of Washington High School and had attended Ashland College. An Army Veteran of World War I1, he retired in 1981 from Republic Steel, Massillon, as a supervisor in the co*ke Plant. He was Mayor of Canal Fulton, serving terms from 1960-1968 and 1972- 1976 and was a Stark County Metropolitan Park Board Commissioner. Jack was instrumental in founding the Annual Trout Derby at Lock 4 Park and spearheaded the restoration of the Ohio Erie Canal in the Canal Fulton Area. He was preceded in death by wife, Nell L.

Vida was a charter member of the Faith Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Akron Teachers Credit Union Board of Directors, Phi Chapter Delta Kappa Gamma, A.A.R.P. Coventry Chapter, College Club, and the Summit County, Ohio and National Retired Teachers Associations. Ms. Hall ones survived by three nephews and niece.

(Dunn Quigley Ciriello Carr, Grant 253-8121.) George 'Lefty' Truza George 'Lefty' Truza, Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Friend, passed away Sunday, November 22, 1998. Lefty has been a resident of Akron for 84 of his 88 years. He came to this country from Romania in 1914 with his family at age 5. Lefty loved to work. retired from the Beacon ate Journal in 1975 after 41 years.

He sold newspapers at Exchange and Main Streets when he was 9 years old. In 1931 as a youth, he helped install the original presses at the Akron Times-Press. Later he became a pressman and also served as the president and secretary of the pressman's union. In 1963 he was appointed assistant mechanical superintendent of the Akron Beacon Journal and in 1968 became plant maintenance manager until his retirement. He loved to play.

As a youth he boxed and played several sports including semi -pro football with the Orient AC and belonged to the Old Timers AC. He golfed and bowled, helping to start a seniors bowling league. As an avid outdoorsman he served as a Scoutmaster of BSA Troop 38. He thrived as he planted his garden and cared for his lawn. George loved people.

His retirement article referred to him as 'everyone's friend'. Whether he was in the neighborhood, at the store or visiting his family in Michigan, everyone he came in contact with loved George. He was active in Masonic organizations. He was a member of Adoniram Lodge, Scottish Rites, Yusef Khan Grotto, and Tadmor Shrine Temple where he was on the Stagecraft Team. George belonged to the First United Methodist Church in Akron where he served as an usher for many years.

He was loved and will be especially remembered by his wife of 64 years Cornelia: son and daughter-in-law Charles and Margaret; grandchildren Catharine Alexandra, Charles Richard, Nicholas George, and Peter Eli Truza; brother Paul (Verla); sisters Ann (Joe) Fejes, and Sylvia Garcia. He has provided a legacy of gentleness, love and friendship. He truly was 'everyone's friend'. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 263 E.

He owned and operated Wise Greenhouse in Rootstown, Ohio. He is survived by wife of 49 years, Thelma (Bower) Wise; daughter, Patricia Olsen Brimfield; sons, Kevin Wise of Rootstown and James Wise of Ravenna; sisters, Mary Bolyard of Suffield, Hazel Burt of Mogadore, Edna Smith of San Antonio, Texas; brothers, Paul Wise of Suffield, Chester Wise of Atwater, Harry Wise of Suffield, Glenn Wise of Plant City, Alfred Wise of Lake Havasue, Harold Wise of Atwater and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Services will be held at Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel, Tuesday 1998 11 a.m. Calling hours Mondav'2 to 4 p.m.
