Fallout 76: A Guide To Tax Evasion (2024)

Thanks to the introduction of expeditions, players have a fast way of grinding for legendary modules, weapons, and armor pieces. When expeditions were first introduced in Fallout 76, players could only lead one per day. Now, players can start as many as they want, whenever they like.

Fallout 76: How To Unlock Expeditions

Expeditions in Fallout 76 allow players to head to The Pitt (Pittsburg) and Atlantic City (New Jersey); here's how to unlock them.

The most popular expedition is A Most Sensational Game due to how fast it can be completed. However, Tax Evasion can be completed pretty quickly once the player has done it a few times. As the name of this event suggests, you'll need to help commit tax evasion by hiding some finances from a group of auditors.

To Start Tax Evasion

Complete Responders Reborn

New players will need to complete the Responders Reborn questline before they can initiate expeditions. However, it is still possible to join expeditions without completing this quest. Simply join an expedition team. As long as the leader of the team has completed the quest, that's all that matters.

But to be the leader of an expedition, you must complete Responders Reborn. It's a very short quest that can be completed in around 30 minutes. Follow the steps below to get the quest done quickly:

  • Head To The Whitespring Refuge
  • Speak To Orlando
  • Complete The Daily Quests: Code Blue, Mutual Aid, and Recipe For Success
  • Speak To Skippy Roerich
  • Speak To Lennox To Start Your First Expedition

After completing that questline, players can go on expeditions whenever they like. To start an expedition, go into the pause menu, press the expedition button prompt at the bottom of the screen, select the region you'd like to go to and choose an expedition within the region.

It's always best to do expeditions in a team as it speeds up the process. Usually, most players are up for completing an expedition. So, if you make an expedition team, more often than not, it will fill up pretty quickly.

After a brief conversation, you'll need to save Billy from the Showmen, and he will give you a series of tasks to complete. It's important to note that the first encounter you have with Billy being held at gunpoint only happens during the first playthrough. After that, each time you do the expedition, he will be waiting inside Quentino's Night Club.

Fallout 76: 6 Best Side Quests To Do First

When first starting out in Fallout 76, players should take on these quests and complete them as soon as possible to start making use of their rewards.

After completing the expedition for the first time, he will be located inside Quentino's Night Club for all subsequent expeditions. These extra objectives are always worth doing as they increase the amount of rewards you get at the end of the expedition.

His objectives are always the same: you'll need to loot five faulty slot machines, activate the anti-cheat terminal, and find the dead gambler. These objectives can be completed after entering the casino. See Tax Evasion Walkthrough Part Two for more details.

All these objectives will be highlighted on your HUD. But the anti-cheat terminal is located on the left as you enter the casino. The dead gambler will be somewhere clearly marked on the casino floor, and all faulty slot machines have a screwdriver sticking out of them. At the end of the expedition, hand all of the things you find to Sal 'Sticky Fingers' for extra rewards.

Tax Evasion Walkthrough Part One

Complete One Of Three Possible Tasks

Fallout 76: A Guide To Tax Evasion (7)

The first thing you'll need to do is complete one of three possible objectives. The objective is chosen at random. While the objectives aren't that difficult, they are timed, so try to do them as quickly as possible.

The first possible task is to set up a signal jammer outside. This is similar to an objective in A Most Sensational Game and Union Dues. Simply head to the location, set up the signal jammer, and kill the waves of enemies while the jammer is being set up.

The second possible task is pretty straightforward. You'll need to dispose of some incriminating evidence. Head outside Quentino's Night Club and throw away a few bags of rubbish while taking out Showmen.

The final possible task is also fairly straightforward: eliminate a total of 3 auditors. They will be protected by Showmen, but they aren't too difficult to take out. Once you have done the task, you'll then need to head inside the casino for part two.

Complete Objectives in The Casino

Fallout 76: A Guide To Tax Evasion (8)

Once inside the Neapolitan Casino, you can complete the tasks for Sal 'Sticky Fingers'. They will all be clearly marked at the bottom of your screen.

Similar to the first part of this expedition, you will need to complete one of three possible objectives. The first one involves hacking terminals. There are a total of four terminals dotted around the casino, you'll need to hack into each one and delete some 'compromising' information.

The second possible objective is one that involves the player hunting around for bugs and removing them. These are bugs in the spying sense and not in insect form! There will be a signal given off by each one, so you'll know when you are near. Find them and remove them.

The third possible objective involves you heading downstairs to the vault. Here, you'll need to take the winnings from a box inside the vault and dump them in a pre-selected slot machine upstairs. It's important to note that this objective has temporarily been taken out of the game due to a bug that spawns in never-ending waves of Overgrown. It is unclear when this objective will be back in the game.

Save Billy Beltbuckles

Fallout 76: A Guide To Tax Evasion (9)

After completing your objective in the casino, you'll need to head back to Quentino's Night Club and save Billy. He's being held hostage by Buttercup. Buttercup is in charge of the audit.

Bring a good weapon as you'll need to defeat Buttercup and fend off his Showmen. Once he's been defeated, you then release Billy and then talk to him. After talking to him and telling him that you have completed the objectives, you then head to Sal and turn over all the things you picked up for him along the way.

Then, whenever you are ready, speak to Lennox to head back to Appalachia.

Rewards For Completing Tax Evasion

A Mix of Top Tier Rewards

Fallout 76: A Guide To Tax Evasion (10)

Like all expeditions, Tax Evasion gives out some decent rewards. Firstly, you'll get Stamps. These can be used to buy plans from Guiseppe in the Whitespring Refuge. You'll also get a new plan from the Atlantic City rewards pool once a week for completing any expedition in Atlantic City.

After that, you'll get a good mix of rewards. While the rewards vary each time you complete the expedition, so long as you do the extra objectives for Sal, you can expect to get some of the following rewards:

  • Up To 6 Legendary Items (Depends on Whether You Completed The Optional Objectives)
  • XP
  • Ammo
  • Legendary Modules
  • Aid Items
